Look at me. I AM somebody
Everyone has a story and everyone wants to be heard. In my experiences, I have discovered that most people, whether an alcoholic, addict, one with mental issues, or a so-called normal person needs to be heard. Many don’t need or even want a response. Simply an ear for their life’s stories. And to know that “I am somebody!”
When this is done, many people believe that you solved their problem. One that they had no clue how to solve before pouring it out onto you. And you not saying a word. Just listening! And they can know that “I am somebody!”
Hence, the 4th and 5th Steps. Isn’t this a remarkable program? One that does not say “Do this, do that” but simply does say “This is how I worked my program and these are the results.” When I work my program like a cafeteria, taking what I want or need and passing on the rest, I am truly Happy, Joyous, and Free.
Very importantly, You can, too! But only if you are entirely ready to step out of the old way of living and enter a newer, brighter, lighter, happier way of life. Not only can you become freer, you will discover that this is not just a program of band-aid fixes, but an introduction to a whole new way of life. Because you can say “I am somebody,” and know it.
So many enter the AA Program thoroughly defeated and feeling like they are lower than a snake’s belly. Whether one has minutes in the program or decades, one can truly become Happy, Joyous, and Free! What does it cost? An arm and a leg and heart and soul. In other words, complete surrender, as in the 3rd Step!
I believe that we are only as sick as our secrets. And, after working the 4th and 5th steps, many of my secrets disappeared and immediately my load was lightened.
Put the positive portions of the Program into your life and watch The Promises come true each and every day. That is a promise! See, this is much more than a program to help us stop drinking and drugging. It is one that will also start and continue us in a lifetime of total Joy! You will be able to say with conviction I AM SOMEBODY! And, as a result, you will FEEL it!
