Spirituality and How To Deal with Newly Found Inspiration

How does one deal with inspiration? Short answer. Any way that you choose. Long answer. What is this inspiration that you say you may have? Is it pointing toward something that is not pleasant? Then don’t call it inspiration. Call it what it really is. Namely, a continuation of your negative thinking. Did a thought pop into your mind? One with something that you wanted to do? One that would really make you feel better? If so, JUST DO IT! If you do not know how to do it, this is not the end.

This is where creativity comes in. The Great Creator created us “In His Image!” Hence, you are as creative as you allow yourself to be. To clarify, just a point where the shortened version of the 3rd Step enters, AGAIN. Simply say “God help me.” Then, unless you are really fighting it, the answer will appear. Just as if out of nowhere. I stopped fighting the program. Above all, life stopped fighting me. My inspiration came in the form of life becoming so much better. Even better than I had ever imagined! Therefore, I wanted to share it with literally EVERYONE.

Of course, everyone either does not or can not want to hear this message. Why? They are too far into their own miseries. Or they have been pushed far into the background because of my earlier life. Thus, I am probably the last person that they want to listen to. I share my inspirations with as many as will listen.

My blessing was having the opportunity to give open talks at AA. This was because some believed that I had a story to tell. I was cutting back with these, though. My memory started to falter on a more regular basis. Hence, this turned me away from joy at giving the talks. There became serious concerns about what was happening to me and the repercussions, if any. This was probably the only part of my existence that I had a real problem with. It didn’t stop me, though. Only slowed me down.

Then, Covid pretty much stopped person to person AA meetings. For instance, the ensuing house arrest regulations were keeping people home. This along with so much else. I was working my program. Was relying heavily on the shortened version of the 3rd Step. I asked my God for help in discovering what I could do. Namely, how to combine the Covid lockdowns with my desire to give my message to others. Zoom was a word that only meant speed to me. Then came a nagging inspiration. Soon I started seeing Zoom used by businesses for meetings. If it can be used for business meetings, why can’t it be used for AA meetings? Remember my inspiration? It was to spread my word to as many as possible. New conditions now were being placed on everything. Social distancing and masking. I decided to make lemonade out of this new lemon.

An inspiration, if we let it, even leads to answers to questions that we never even had before. Thus, even the time for the meeting was important. I had seen other Zoom AA meetings that were now starting. Many just were gabfests. Not what I considered AA. This was and is only an opinion. I know. But I believe it.And it was important to me that this would stick to the basics. The foundation of AA is spirituality. Most of the other meetings were in the evening. This was just like the other meetings had been. The time of 3:00PM was chosen. This would accommodate people who were not employed. Also working from home. They would now be able to attend.

This meeting was set up starting with a few friends from AA. We decided to use our creativity for the good of as many people as we could reach. They were willing to work it with me and, as they say, the rest is history! You folks quickly became part of my extended family. I think of you as such each and every day. Thank you for your shared inspiration. This further spreads the word.

There, this is how I am following my latest inspiration. How about you? Remember, an inspiration is something that makes us feel good. So, if your inspiration makes you feel good, JUST DO IT! If it doesn’t, DON’T do it! Another will come along just as soon as you are ready for it. Plus as long as you consciously asked your Higher Power for help. Do you have any questions about it? Please let me know and we will work it out together. God bless you all!
