Recently, at one of our meetings, the thought of CBA started rattling around in my head. This, of course, is Conceive, Believe, and Achieve. I believe that the most powerful parts of our makeup are our thoughts and, since we are always thinking, we are always creating.
This is why it is so important for us to not only pay close attention to our actions, but also to our thoughts. We may wonder why because our thoughts are only in our heads. So who’s to even notice our thoughts? It is not only just the thought because our thoughts are followed by actions, good and bad.
What does this have to do with powerful thoughts and CBA? When I was new to the AA Program, I saw the other members who had lived lives similar to mine. They now were Happy, Joyous, and Free. I wanted to achieve what they had and was willing to go to any lengths to get it. I was told to fake it till I made it and so faked and copied what others were saying and doing. They seemed to me to have a good understanding of the program. It didn’t take long for the faking to feel real. So, in essence, it was.
Since I believed what they had said and done, I CONCEIVED that being Happy, Joyous, and Free could happen to me too. I observed their actions and soon BELIEVED that, if they could do it, I could achieve it too. I saw that they were working their Program to the best of their ability. Seemingly, all of the time. I was working my program to the best of my ability and so, as soon as I really Believed that it could happen to me, I soon started to Achieve peace. This is what I learned was the serenity that I had heard about since entering the Program.
For this I became Happy, Joyous, and Free. Happy that I was getting this wonderful Program. Joyous like I never had felt before. Free from the handcuffs of addiction to ethyl alcohol and/or other mind altering substances.
For you to see this in action in others, just watch world class athletes, such as Olympians, preparing for their event. They are visualizing what they wish to achieve. They see in their mind’s eye doing during their event. A hurdler’s head bobs, visualizing leaping the individual hurdles or a high jumper’s head moves and bobs before approaching the pit as he visualizes clearing the cross bar. That is CBA in action.
What is it that you want to accomplish? Happiness? Joyousness? Freedom? Then your answer is you to Conceive your having it. Soon you will start to Believe that you can do it, and can actually visualize it. Then you WILL Achieve success with it. Bless you all!
