because actually, it is the only moment we have.
A paraphrase from the teachings of Eckhart Tolle is: The more that you devote to the past or future robs you of the only real time that there is and that is right now.
Reverend Stephanie Sorensen reminds us that this helps us to believe that the only time one can express himself is now so all other thoughts are futile and frustrating.
The events being put forward either happened before or after one expresses himself about it. So, it is not being presented as a “live, play-by-play” account but a rehash or else a guess.
How much more futility do you wish for? How much more frustration do you desire?
When I first heard the “One day at a time” slogan and similar variants such as “This too will pass,” I failed to understand the true meaning of these simple phrases.
“If you had my problems you would be frustrated, angry, resentful, afraid, (choose your own word,) too.” “I am unique therefore I am entitled to be angry, resentful, and afraid.”
You have the right to do all of this but, do you really wish to pay the price again for resentment, anger, frustration, or remorse? Those moments of anger bursts or resentment and the following fears that seem to appear?
SO HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS STINKING THINKING?
If you have had enough of this and wish to stop, simply say the shortened version of the 3rd Step, “God, help me,” get out of His way and let Him, and move on with your life.
Don’t look for something difficult and complicated to do. Just 1, 2, 3.
- Say, “God, help me.”
- Get out of His way and let Him
- Move on with your life.
