How To Be Happy, Joyous, and Free Even When Stuff is Hitting the Fan

You can be every bit as Happy, Joyous, and Free as I am. No matter what is happening to or near you

I am Happy, Joyous, and Free 24/7/365. This is not a boast. This is a statement of fact! I am going to explain in this article how you can be every bit as Happy, Joyous, and Free. No matter what is happening to or near you.

I see so many people who seem to be just “Getting by” in their lives. These are the ones that act, sound, and even look like they are existing rather than living.

A spark in them may be lit occasionally but to listen to them is difficult because it tends to bring me down somewhat. I am Happy, Joyous, and Free and wish everyone felt the same about themselves.

One of my main missions in this Human Experience is to try to help as many other people feel just as good as I do and preferably even better. If they are better, it gives me something to aspire to. This way, we all profit.

I am an unashamed capitalist who believes wholeheartedly in earning and making a profit from my endeavors, both physical and emotional. The more that I see others succeed in their endeavors, the more that I gain myself.

The only way that I know to help others is to let them know just what I have done to achieve this measure of emotional success. And then give them the opportunity to either choose or reject the same for themselves.

I can not change anything but myself but, hopefully, I can show others how they can change themselves IF THEY CHOOSE TO! I obtained my Happiness, Joy, and Freedom when I discovered Spirituality.

I was introduced to this concept by AA and, seeing it seemingly work in others, wanted what they had and was willing to go to any lengths to get it.

Along with these introductions to Spirituality, I was advised to study Emmet Fox. Mr. Fox had been the Spiritual Advisor for Bill W. and many other original AAs. His Sermon on the Mount was used by these early AAs as their guide until Bill W. wrote the Big Book.

I read Sermon on the Mount and got so much out of it that I started giving it as gifts to others. Others who were both in and out of the Program. I then looked up and studied Fox’s papers and talks and turned to them whenever a problem arose in my life.

When doing this I, sure enough, began to rapidly become more Happy, Joyous, and Free. Since Mr. Fox was no longer alive, I had to rely on his writings and teachings for my Spiritual guidance.

Things stayed this way for about 40 years. And then I met Reverend Stephanie Sorensen, of Flint’s Life Enrichment Center, and heard her talks and teachings. They furthered my feelings of pleasure, comfort, and guidance that had been begun with the teachings of Emmet Fox.

Reverend Sorensen now is my Spiritual Advisor and is ready, able, and willing to answer my questions and teach me more about spiritual life. The spiritual life that we have always been living but I did not even know about before.

The 12 Steps of AA were devised by Bill W. and the early pioneers in the program and influenced by Mr. Fox. The originators placed spirituality as the foundation of the AA program.

That is probably why, when I started hearing Reverend Sorensen’s talks, I thought I was hearing AA program talk. They seem to be a great complement to each other.

By following what I have learned beginning in the Spiritual Program of AA and continuing to learn in Spiritual studies as close to 24/7/365 as possible, I have become genuinely Happy, Joyous, and Free.

This, by no means, means that I am happy that someone, or even I, am sick, injured, have problems or something is drastically amiss.

Working the Program 24/7/365 is not complicated. I just try to always do the next right thing and it seems to work fine for me. When I am working on my program to the best of my ability, I know when something is right or wrong.

No, I am happy, because I can now make decisions that are positive and correct, much more than not.

I am joyous because I remember everything that I have done and whatever I have done is usually the right thing.

And, I am free because I am free of any mind-altering substances to influence my mind or body.

Thus, if it feels right, it is right. If there is any apprehension at all, I should reconsider. See how much simpler it all is? No worries or “Oh shucks” moments.

I just got a bonus from writing this story. It reminded me again just how great a life I have now. Plus, it immediately made me realize just how Happy, Joyous, and Free I really am. This can be you, too. All you have to do is CHOOSE it for yourself! Thank you, God!
