Everything seems to have improved drastically since I found the program of Alcoholics Anonymous
First, AA is where I first heard of Spirituality. I rather quickly changed from being a very self-absorbed, very large, very angry, very violent, well-armed, well-trained man with no real friends and a family that feared him.
I have changed into a man who loves everyone and can’t hide this fact. One who absolutely loves letting people know that they are loved. One whose family loves him and regularly shows it.
One whose sense of humor has done a complete reversal. It changed from one that usually joked by putting people as the butt of the jokes to not harming anyone.
One that thought that I would never again have fun because everything that I did had drinking involved. This included fishing, golfing, riding my motorcycle, and dancing.
The change was into one that not only thoroughly loved doing the same activities but also one that actually did them and even more much better. I was able to make this transformation completely, after faking it until finally making it.
I achieved this by totally buying into the spiritual portion of the program. So much so that I actually sometimes felt like I was overdoing it. Then evolved further and changed into being comfortable with it and wanting to do even more.
From one with no religious or spiritual training coming into the program to one embracing the concepts and ideas of working Step 3. This meant turning my will and life over to God. This allowed me to accept my Higher Power to handle the heavy work.
This allowed me to simply carry on and enjoy being. What about you?
Do you really want to be Happy, Joyous, and Free? Then, simply embrace this very simple program that is made for complicated folks and LET it come true for us.
Reverend Stephanie Sorensen, of the Life Enrichment Center in Flint, MI, said in a recent talk: The Universe in which we live, the Universe that lives in us, is always ready to move through us in amazing ways, whether we’re ready or not.
But if we want to intentionally participate in creating the life we want to live, and the world we want to live it in, our readiness is essential. We’ve got to be ready to take charge of our life by giving our attention only to those things we want to see grow in our lives and in the world.
When we choose a specific focus, and we tend to it and care for it, that is where mastery comes from. We’ve got to be ready to become the Master Gardener of our minds by mentally letting go of what we don’t want to grow, and by deciding to choose our thoughts as carefully as we would seed for the garden.
Why? Because our thoughts are creative in every moment. Right now through them, we’re creating our life, whether we’re ready to or not!
