I get inspiration from everything and everyone around me.
Divine Inspiration is what pretty much defines how my day is guided, any more. Webster defines inspiration as a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation.
And also, the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions. Or the act of influencing or suggesting opinions.
Walking Oreo this morning, I heard the birds singing away again with their songs of joy and inspiration. This led to thinking about some of the other inspirational music I have heard. From Travis Tritt’s “It’s a Great Day to be Alive” to the Edwin Hawkins Singers’ “Oh Happy Day!”
These two songs are what I play almost every day on my Echo Dot when creating my articles. I also get inspiration from listening to others when discussing the ups and downs of their lives.
I get inspiration from everything and everyone around me, either to make myself better or to try to learn tolerance. I have been blessed to have received Divine inspiration from sources too numerous to count.
This has allowed me to do so much in my short human experience and I choose to follow these inspirations wherever they may lead. Since becoming sober, I have been introduced to spirituality.
Then, after faking it till I was making it while trying to understand this new, to me, concept and loving the results, I wanted what every addict wants from something that makes him feel better — more. Much more!
I believe that it was Divine Inspiration that led me to Emmet Fox. He was the spiritual advisor for Bill W. and the early AA members. I have probably read everything that Mr. Fox has written, both in his books and essays.
From there I moved to Ernest Holmes and his Science of Mind. From there I met my present Spiritual Advisor, Reverend Stephanie Sorensen, of the Life Enrichment Center, Flint, MI. I have learned that I can get Divine inspiration from anything, anyone, anywhere, anytime.
One of the things I have learned from studying spirituality is that I am a spiritual being, living in a spiritual universe that is governed by spiritual law. As a Divine being, that means that I am an individualized expression of God and one with all that exists. That is Divine Inspiration to me.
That also means that the first two words of The Lord’s Prayer, Our Father, mean exactly what it says. So, if He is Our Father, that makes us very much related and this is, in itself, so Divinely inspiring.
I don’t profess to know everything about Divine Inspiration! There is so much more that I wish to learn. What I do say is please keep sharing with me so that I can continue to learn and grow.
For the inspiration that you give me by just being near, I am eternally grateful and thus continue to be Divinely inspired, through you.
You too can join in the excitement by just REALLY WORKING YOUR OWN PROGRAM 24/7/365. The AA Program is a Divine inspiration to me and millions of others. Why not you, too? What could be simpler?
Just start your day out by saying the shortened version of the 3rd Step, “God, help me.” Then JUST DO IT! Not always easy but so very much worth it in genuine peace of mind.
So, to answer the thought put forward in the topic, I obtain Divine inspiration by, first, saying the shortened version of the 3rd Step, “God, help me,” and then getting out of His way and letting it flow.
If I can do this, surely you can, too!
Thank you, God!
