Spirituality and How to Deal With Frustration

Spirituality is part of my entire system.Part of my physical body, my thoughts, my actions, my existence. I do not always heed its gentle urgings, though. I sometimes totally deny its existence. It is there, though, and everywhere just like the air we breathe. If a child ignores or fails to heed the urgings of its parent, there are consequences. They are not always pleasant. It is the same with Spirituality. Ignore it and pay the consequences. Ignoring can lead to frustration.

When suffering with frustration, I can throw up my hands and say “What’s the use?” I can get angry. I can get resentful. Or get forgetful and dismiss the entire incident and say “Not my job, man!” In the times we are living in right now it is easy to get frustrated.

Remember the Serenity Prayer? It implores us to change ONLY the things that we can. And to accept the rest. The ONLY thing that I can change is me. What can I do to change the fears that abound brought upon us by anything, really? We have a choice. We can either make the best of the present situation or become totally frustrated, hateful, or resentful. Still not being able to change the situation. This brings us back to FEAR. Fear is the root of all of our character defects and can be fatal to anyone.

As an alcoholic, though, I have been introduced to the tool of Spirituality to help carry me through this situation and any other that may arise. How do I practice Spirituality? By practicing the 3rd step by turning my will and my life over to my God, totally and completely. That and believing it to be true. How do I do it totally and completely? By using the shortened version of the 3rd step. By just saying “God Help Me!”

I might start by Faking it until I make it and then soon there will be no faking it. It will seem like it is original with me. Get rid of the negativity in your life! No matter if it is large or small, big or little. A “Little” negativity is like a “little” pregnancy. It either is or it isn’t! My prayer is that God will Bless you with as much as He has blessed me and with even more so that we all can be Happy, Joyous, and Free. God bless you!
